Greetings UTSWC Members,

Best wishes for a wonderful and exciting 2017/18 school year.  Thank you for giving me the opportunity to lead our union.  I wish you all a productive, successful, and rewarding year as we work together in the public schools of our communities.  I welcome and encourage you to do what you can to assist our union in various capacities.  Whether you can give a little or a lot, it takes all of us.  We are strongest when we are united in our efforts!

We are a union of professionals choosing to be public servants, educating the diverse students in District 833.  Wow!  That is just one sentence but with so many powerful words to describe us.

Union – We appreciate being joined together for a common purpose.
Professionals –We are proud to be trained, practiced, and competent in our occupation.
Choosing – We are dedicated to the choice we made to work in public education.
Public Servant – We are passionate about providing a service that is open to all persons in our communities.
Diverse – We embrace the challenge and privilege of teaching and learning with people from more than one social, cultural, or economic group.
Students – We see the awesomeness of engaged learners from young to old.

Let us continue coming together as a union of educators inspiring one another and the communities around us.  Great public schools, as we have in our district, do not just happen.  They happen because of those six words above put into one single sentence.

In Unity,

Marty Fridgen
